In addition to creating nourishing
meals and spending family time
together, cooking can be a great social
& integrative activity for children with
Sensory Processing Issues. Children
can stir, mix or knead ingredients,
(proprioceptive/tactile) measure
ingredients (visual) and be exposed to
different tastes & smells to name a
few. Following the steps teaches order
& focus and eating food that they
helped prepare gives a sense of
meaningful accomplishment!
'The creation of something new is not accomplished by the
intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity.
The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.
          ~ Carl Jung
Play is a uniquely adaptive act, not subordinate
to some other adaptive act, but with a special
function of its own in human experience.

Coloring is one of the easiest and most useful sensory activities for kids. It helps develop visual processing, tracking, rods/cones, & also improves
planning, creative problem solving & fine motor skills!  Mandalas (circular symmetrical designs) are also used to improve focus and increase relaxation.
